Rome: The Main Imperial City
Poets said, Rome is the most astonishing city in the universe. Most probably
your first access to the ancient world is through this lovely
place. However, there may be other access points in future, when
the known world expands more and more.
The city fulfills all kinds of basic needs an adventurer has:
- buying/selling items
- getting healed
- learning needful things
- and some more...
Additionally, there sure is something to explore and to fight,
for example the hidden catacombs containing a whole rebel
army or several outposts in the empire.
Connections to other areas in the domain are provided, too.
All is based on ancient roman empire, including all of the
accompanied conflicts between Rome and other folks,
Roman gods and other religions, magicians and scientists
in an upcoming "modern" world, citizens and slaves,
the mighty and the poor.
Arriving
Arrive by ship at Portus Ostia, the main harbour for the entire region.
From here you should take a little walk northeast to the
city of Roma,
just follow the Via Portuensis and enjoy the beautiful sight you
get when crossing the river Tiber.
Survey
The capitol hill in the south of the city will give you
a complete survey of its beauty, even and especially at night.
Culture
Visit the beautiful temples of several gods to pray for
luck in shipping (Neptune's temple), health (Aesculapios' temple)
and strength in times of war (Jupiter's temple). Be sure to
have some oblations with you.
Culture is written in capital letters there. So you may wander
between statues and artefacts of long deceased emperors or
famous gladiators.
Shopping
In Trajans Market you can fulfill all wishes a real adventurer
has for exploring the world, if you've got enough money.
Relaxing
A tavern will give you relaxation from fierceful struggling
and lasting walks though the beautiful landscape.
Famous Places
If still time left, you should take a look at the emperor's
palace. The gaol there is the largest one of the world: a lot
of people were seen beeing throwed in, far less came out again!
A must see is the colosseum! With it's inhabitants it sure is
a real task for any strong adventurer, who is always willing to
get in a close fight. Maybe, sometime, you even are able to
join the Gladiators Guild, with all its advantages.
Dangers
Now a word of caution: there may be some rebels, as every
large empire has. Do not talk to them and report any contact
to the pretorian guards immedeately!
Stay a while!
Don't hesitate to have fun and a good adventure around there
in this amazing city.
If all has been explored just pass the city gates (if open, will
close at night hours), promising a load of new adventures out in
the whole known ancient world.
